1. Overview
Our center evaluates the efficacy of disinfectants against various microorganisms and viruses in accordance with JIS standards, the Japanese Pharmacopoeia, and international test standards (e.g., EN and ASTM). In addition, test targets may be changed to allergens according to the purpose of the study.
2. Applicable Products
・Disinfectants (including antiseptics for use on living tissue)
・Bactericides
・Hypochlorous acid water (including electrolyzed water)
3. Standards and Regulations
・JIS B 8701, Annex C: Test Method for Evaluating the Disinfection Performance of Hypochlorous Acid Water Generators
・Japanese Pharmacopoeia: Disinfection test methods (suspension test and hard surface carrier test)
・EN standards: Suspension tests, surface tests, and hand disinfectant tests
・ASTM standards: Suspension tests and surface tests
・AOAC standards: Carrier tests
4. Test Method
Examples of evaluation methods:
・Suspension Test
Microorganisms are inoculated into the disinfectant and allowed to react for a specified period; efficacy is evaluated by measuring the number of surviving microorganisms.
・Hard Surface Carrier Test (Surface Test, Carrier Test)
The disinfectant is applied (by dropping or spraying) onto a carrier inoculated with and dried of the test organisms (or virus) and allowed to react for a specified period; efficacy is evaluated by measuring the number of microorganisms remaining on the carrier.
・Efficacy Evaluation of Topical Antiseptics (Hand Sanitizer Testing)
Microorganisms are inoculated onto the hands of healthy volunteers and allowed to dry; the antiseptic is then applied, and the hands are rubbed together for a specified duration. Efficacy is subsequently evaluated by measuring the number of microorganisms remaining on the hands.
Regarding tests that fall outside standard protocols, we propose appropriate study designs based on our extensive testing experience and scientific expertise, conducting tests tailored to the client’s specific requirements.
